New Model Improved
Rochester Optical Company
Rochester, NY
ca. 1885 - 1895
Ex-collection Michael Kramer
This 4” x 5” New Model Improved view camera is in impeccable, original condition. When the Rochester Optical Co. offered this camera circa 1895, it enjoyed the reputation of being the most popular camera available. It was the only first-class camera made at a price within the reach of the ordinary amateur. It’s constructed of Honduras mahogany, with highly polished nickel trim, and an ivory nameplate. The brass Prosch Triplex shutter is the smallest one I’ve ever seen.
