Fallowfield Stereo

Fallowfield & Co. Manufacturers
Lambeth
London, England

ca. 1885 - 1890

Ex-collection Thom Bundza

A beautiful mahogany stereo camera with deep maroon bellows, Dovetail joints, septum, and ivory maker’s label. The ground glass measures approximately 4 1/4” x 6 1/2”. It is fitted with matching A.F.R (Paris) lenses. They are marked Anastigmat Symetrique 1:5.8, F=135 mm. The lenses are numbered 288 and 227 and bear the motto “Sine Sole Nihil” (In English, Without the sun nothing). According to McKeown’s Price Guide to Antique and Classic Cameras, 12th Edition, “Fallowfield was a dealer, not a manufacturer. Most if not all Fallowfield cameras and lenses were made for him by others.” And yet, it is interesting that the ivory maker’s label identifies Fallowfield as “Manufacturer”.
