Andrew Hamilton Baird was a maker of scientific instruments, including a relatively small number of cameras and photographic supplies. the ground glass on this Diminutive folding hand camera measures 3 1/4” x 4 1/4”, It has several unique features including a string-set, internal roller blind shutter, a brass lever to lock the bed in place, and another brass lever to release the shutter. In early advertisements he used the phrase “everything scientific”, but in 1889 he published an ad that claimed “everything photographic”.

Andrew H. Baird was an avid photographer and beginning in 1906 he was the president of the Edinburgh Photographic Society.
